Shipping and Ebook Update!

Today we have fun news!

First part of the update: We have begun shipping October's swag boxes. It's a hefty process, so please be patient with us. If you're international, your email with tracking information should come from Pirate Ship. If you're in the US, you should get a tracking email from Backerkit as the shipments are processed.  Swag boxes will be going out in waves. Once all swag boxes are shipped, we will ship anyone who had art only without books. 

We've placed the order for the remainder of the books, and we're aiming to ship them earlier than the projected April ship date. We will, of course, keep you updated! 

In the meantime...ebooks.

We have spoken with Bookfunnel and they conquered the gremlins in their back end of things. Going forward, please log into Bookfunnel using the email you provided us, and the books should be in your library. We are uploading emails every couple of days as the last few surveys trickle in.

If you logged into your Bookfunnel library and the books aren't there, please let us know!

A Solution for eBook Delivery!

Thanks for your patience today, everyone! Most of you who completed your surveys have been able to download your ebooks without an issue, but some haven't received the email with the link or are running into problems getting the system to recognize that their email is on the approved list. It's mostly related to us overloading the connection between the systems with our enthusiasm, but Bookfunnel has provided a workaround solution that should simplify things. 

We've manually added all 6 books to the Bookfunnel account associated with the email address provided by everyone who completed the survey to date. 

You simply need to go to http://my.bookfunnel.com/ and either sign in to your Bookfunnel account or create one with the email address you provided us in the survey and your books will automatically be in your library available for download! They'll be there forever now, so you can go back and access them if you ever need to send them to your device again.

Some of you provided your kindle email addresses in the survey. We updated all of those to your regular email address, so that's the one you should use to access your Bookfunnel library. 

If you enter your email address at that link and your books aren't in your library, it's possible there was a typo when you provided it (I caught and fixed several gnail and yhoo accounts, but may not have found every issue). If it doesn't work, please shoot us a message so we can look into it and make sure you get your books. 

[EDIT: Please give it a few minutes. We just tested it again and it's working, but adding books to 3k accounts may just be taking a few minutes longer than we anticipated.]

Don't Have Your eBooks Yet? Let's find the culprit!

Thanks so much for your patience everyone! We're sort of forging new ground with all of you by subverting the traditional model of bookselling, which is incredibly exciting and gives us hope for a future in which we aren't all entirely beholden to Amazon for everything...but it means we might break some systems that aren't built to withstand the force of our collective excitement. 

The good news is that the companies we're working with are adaptable and willing to help us solve these problems so we don't run into them on future projects!

While the majority of backers have managed to download their books without a problem (over 2k of you!), we know those of you who've run into hiccups are eager to get yours...so we have a choose-your-own-adventure style update for you! 

If you don't have your ebooks yet, here's where to start...

1. Have you completed your survey in Backerkit yet? We can't send your books if you don't complete your survey!

A) Yes! Skip to Step 2!

B) No! a) Help, I'm being held prisoner by Apple's Private Email Relay (a device of Satan) and I didn't get my survey...or b) the regular internet overlords prevented the survey from reaching my inbox. 

Fear not! There are two ways to access it. The quickest is to go to https://bonkersromance.backerkit.com/ and enter the email address that your Kickstarter account is under (so if you have Satan's Apple Private Email Relay, you'll copy and paste the gibberish email that's assigned to your account).

Don't know where to find your gibberish email?

• Click on the circle profile icon in the top right of Kickstarter...

• Click on Settings...

•  Copy and paste the email address shown into the Backerkit survey finder.  

If you complete those steps, you'll be able to access your survey, but if you have any trouble, please send us a message and we can manually look it up and send you a link! Please keep in mind that once you complete your survey, you won't immediately be able to access your ebooks. There are steps we have to take to export them and we'll be doing them in batches. Our intention had been to only do them once per week because it's time consuming to do them in smaller batches, but we know you're excited, so we're going to try our best to export them more frequently. 

2. You've completed your survey and I'm proud of you. If you didn't receive the email with the download link yesterday, have you tried downloading the books straight from the Kickstarter landing page? https://books.bookfunnel.com/peculiartasteskickstarter

A) Yes! It worked! ...Happy reading!

B) Yes! But it says my email isn't valid. Not to fear. There must've been an issue importing your email address. Proceed to Step 3! 

3. Are the books waiting for you in your Bookfunnel library? 

Sign in to Bookfunnel or claim your account here using the email you provided in the survey:

A) Yes! They were magically there waiting for me! ...Happy reading!

B) My books aren't there yet! The workaround Bookfunnel gave us if Step 2 didn't work was to add all of the books to the Bookfunnel account associated with the emails you provided in the survey. It's working beautifully, but there was a lag for some of them (evidently adding 6 books to 3500 accounts simultaneously was asking a lot!). 

We've sent some of the ones that lagged to Bookfunnel to investigate and make sure they're all processing. If some of them timed out, they'll help us to make sure the whole list processes again in the morning. 

If by noon PT on Tuesday, you've followed all of the steps above and don't see your books, please send us a message so we can work through it. Please wait until then to send us a message because anyone who didn't have a typo or other issue with their email should be resolved by the morning (either just by giving it time or by processing the list again). 

If none of this worked, it's likely your email address had a typo we didn't catch or the internet overlords have a vendetta against you...but we'll vanquish them together and make sure everyone gets their books! Send us a message (remember, only after noon PT on Tuesday!) and we'll get to the bottom of it and get the books to you.

Ebook Delivery Issue (SORRY!)

Hey all!

We apologize for the snafu with the ebook delivery today. We had double checked everything, but the one thing we couldn't anticipate was that Bookfunnel apparently isn't set up for the deluge of downloads we sent their way. 

We have a support ticket in to find a solution right now, so we ask for your patience while we resolve this.

If you are able to download at least one of the books, you may need to wait a few minutes between each download (some people have been able to go back and it allows them to download on the second try). You will need to verify your email for each individual book, as they're set up individually even if they're linked with a bundle. The email must match the email we sent the links to.

If you were able to download, but are having issues sending the book to your Kindle, you may need to add your email address to the Safe Email list on your AMZ account. You also may need to download the book onto your computer and THEN send it to your device

If you were able to download, but are not able to send it to your device even after all that, you will need to reach out to Bookfunnel support. Again, we apologize for this confusion. 

We've used the company many times in the past and haven't had issues, so we were unprepared for this hiccup.

We will update everyone as soon as we hear from Bookfunnel with further guidance.

Surveys are sent!

 It's time! 

We've now sent surveys, and they will be hitting inboxes in waves over the next day. The surveys will give you a chance to add any last-minute items you may want to grab, and they will also be what we use to send the link for the ebook downloads. You MUST fill our your survey if you want your ebook. 

If you are in the October shipping group, please ensure you've filled out your survey no later than 9/7 to ensure there are no delays in shipping. We will be moving fast with this one!

As a reminder, swag tiers will automatically have all stretch goal items (map, HEA art, sticker) automatically included in their order. You are more than welcome to add duplicates, though!

The ebooks will work like this: We will send an email with a link to all 6 books via Bookfunnel. From there, you will send the files to your email/device. Please double-check the email address you input in the survey, as we will not necessarily be notified if there are errors, and a mistake will mean you won't get the email with your books. Ebooks will be sent out once a week starting this Monday (8/29) to those who have filled out their surveys during the previous week. (If you want yours on Monday, complete your survey by the end of the weekend!)

You will be able to edit your shipping address on your survey until we lock them by using the same link that is in the original survey email. We will be sure to give notice before we begin shipping to ensure you have a chance to edit your address. If any packages are returned because of incorrect shipping addresses, we will not be able to resend without an additional charge, so please take the time to ensure your address is correct.
